On Friday, 9th February, Bro. William Grant, the Substitute Provincial Grand Master, along with Bro. Robert Stevenson RWM of The Bonnie Doon No. 565, and Liam his grandson, delivered the latest batch of teddy bears to Wendy Thomson at Ayr Hospital.
This recent contribution is a continuation of the Ayrshire Freemasons' commitment to the "Teddies for Loving Care" project. Since its inception, Ayrshire Freemasons have generously donated a total of 862 teddy bears to this cause. These teddy bears are distributed to children attending the Emergency Departments (EDs) at both Ayr and Crosshouse Hospitals.
The initiative aims to provide comfort to young patients, helping to alleviate the stress and anxiety of their hospital experience, helping them to cope with the potentially daunting environment of a hospital.
The Ayrshire Freemason's involvement in this project is part of a broader effort to support local communities and charitable causes.
Bro. Grant is to be commended for his efforts in leading this initiative which exemplifies the spirit of community service and charity that forms an integral part of the Masonic ethos.
Speaking after the presentation, Bro. Grant said, "The Teddies for Loving Care project has really taken off in Ayrshire. Brethren from around the county have shown their generosity in donations and fundraisers for this worthy cause. And even though we are the first Province in Scotland to adopt this worthy cause, interest is growing around the country in doing it elsewhere. I'm very grateful to all the brethren whose contributions and efforts have made this possible."
